Staying Positive

Things that have gone right lately. My attempt to be a more optimistic person.

I will post every day, at the end of the day (or the next morning), about the good things that have happened to me in that day. The hope is that I will begin to be generally happier and more positive, rather than focusing on the negative as I tend to do.

If you would like to join me, e-mail me or leave a comment on one of my posts and we can talk about adding you as a poster here. I think that it would be really cool if this were to become a multi-person endeavor, if others are interested in helping to make it one.

August 2, 2006

Music: Evanescence Fallen
Reading: Dickens Bleak House
Biggest stressor at the moment: My personal statement. Or my lousy fencing lesson this evening. Can't decide which.

Good things that happened today:
1. I created this blog! Yaaaay! :)
2. I had a really neat experience in the archives (where I am interning) today. They found a bunch of junk under some houses that had been uprooted and moved, and because the houses were on campus the junk went to the University Archives. Well, the archivist decided that it wasn't worth keeping, but we should photograph it before throwing it out. I got the job of photographing. And at the bottom of the pile of stuff was all of these newspapers from 1911 that someone had folded up flowers and plants in to press them! A lot of the papers were dirty, but I have a couple of pages of the San Francisco Chronicle from 1911 and three stalks of dried flowers that are nearly a hundred years old! Way cool.
3. I sent my personal statement and writing sample drafts off to the professor who's going to proofread them. A little nervewracking, but really it's a good thing.

Other things to be happy about:
1. Puppies.
2. My roomate is going to give me this really nice wool to knit with. :) I can make DNA Scarves for my parents and a scarf for my grandmother!
