Staying Positive

Things that have gone right lately. My attempt to be a more optimistic person.

I will post every day, at the end of the day (or the next morning), about the good things that have happened to me in that day. The hope is that I will begin to be generally happier and more positive, rather than focusing on the negative as I tend to do.

If you would like to join me, e-mail me or leave a comment on one of my posts and we can talk about adding you as a poster here. I think that it would be really cool if this were to become a multi-person endeavor, if others are interested in helping to make it one.

March 6, 2007

Music: mix CD
Reading: Arnold Preface to 1853 Poems; Eliot "Tradition and the Individual Talent," "Hamlet and His Problems"
Current stress level (scale of 1-10): 8.5

Good things that happened today:
1. Worked a bit on my portfolio.
2. Worked on my final project for Financial Literacy -- a budget! It's actually kind of fun... heh.
3. Fencing lesson went okay.
4. Learned it will be very hard for me to qualify for Nationals. (Yes, this is a good thing... I kind of don't actually want to qualify, as that would be a ton of added stress and I'm honestly pretty much ready to stop fencing for a while, but I couldn't not fence my best either. This way I can fence hard, and if I happen to actually qualify I'll be so proud of myself (because it won't seem accidental or like a stupid fluke) that I won't mind the added stress of having to train for another two weeks, mess with my plane ticket home for spring break, etc.)
5. Got a sweet letter from a teammate (she wrote one to each of us). Its purpose was to pump me up for this weekend's competition, but she also expressed support from her and the team for what I've been doing as captain and acknowledged some of the hard stuff I've had to deal with, which was just fantastic.

Other things to be happy about:
1. Puppy count: TWO!
